Katrina Kaif /Biography/Filmography/कैटरीना कैफ, जीवनी, फिल्मोग्राफी/
Katrina Kaif:
Born on July 16, 1983, as Katrina Turquotte, Katrina Kaif is a British actress who primarily works in Hindi-language films. She is one of the highest-paid actresses in India and has been nominated for three Filmfare awards, four Screen Awards, and four Zee Cine Awards. She has received mixed reviews for her acting, although she is well-known for her dance skills from a series of hit item numbers.
Kaif was born in Hong Kong and resided in several nations before relocating to London for three years. When she was a teenager, she got her first modeling job and went on to seek a career in fashion modeling. Indian director Kaizad Gustad cast her in the critically and financially unsuccessful Boom (2003) during a fashion show in London. Despite having a prosperous modeling career in India, Kaif's limited Hindi proficiency initially made it difficult for her to get movie roles. Kaif achieved financial success in Bollywood with the romantic comedy Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005) and Namastey London (2007), following his appearance in the Telugu film Malliswari (2004). A string of box office successes brought her more success, but her performance, her tendency toward male-dominated movies, and her repetitious parts brought criticism.
Kaif garnered further praise for her roles in the romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) and the thriller New York (2009), which led to nominations for her to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. A string of financial setbacks ensued, notwithstanding the box office successes of the drama Bharat (2019) and the action flicks Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Sooryavanshi (2021) in the action genre. In the 2018 love film Zero, Kaif won the Zee Cine Award for Best Supporting Actress for her depiction of an alcoholic actress.
Kaif is often included in lists of the most beautiful and well-liked celebrities in India. In 2019, the frequent brand ambassador introduced her makeup line, Kay Beauty. She takes part in theatrical productions and supports her mother's organization, Relief Projects India, which aids impoverished children. Vicky Kaushal, an actor, is Kaif's spouse.
On July 16, 1983, Katrina Kaif was born in British Hong Kong, with her mother's surname Turquotte, which can also be spelled Turcotte. Her mother, Suzanne, (often spelled Susanna), is an English lawyer and volunteer for charitable causes, and her father, Mohammed Kaif, is a British businessman of Kashmiri origin. She has seven siblings; Isabel, one of them, is an actress and model as well. When Kaif was a young child, her parents had divorced, and her father immigrated to the US. She said that their mother reared them and that neither her father nor any of their siblings had any influence on them as children. She claimed she wasn't in contact with her father in a 2009 interview with The Indian Express.
She was a gorgeous young English girl. To help her connect with the audience, we decided to give her some Indian ancestry. However, we afterward felt that Kazi sounded too, um, holy. We thought Katrina Kaif sounded amazing because Mohammad Kaif was at the top. Shroff's remarks were deemed "hurtful" by Kaif, who refuted this.
In a busy room, a woman sits close to an older woman. The elder woman is dressed in black, and the younger woman is seated on the right in a white garment.
The family moved for varied periods of time to several different countries because Kaif's mother is a social activist. As a result, Kaif and her siblings received home education from a number of tutors. Quoting her:
As we grew up, we moved from Hong Kong, where I was born, to China, Japan, and then, by boat, to France. Following our brief stays in France and Switzerland (I'm excluding several East European nations), we traveled to Poland in Kraków. Following that, we traveled to Belgium, spent a little period in Hawaii, and then arrived in London.
Before relocating to India, Kaif spent three years living in London. Kaif landed her first modeling job for a jewelry campaign when she was 14 years old, having won a beauty pageant in Hawaii. After that, she pursued a career in modeling in London, working for independent agencies and making frequent appearances at London Fashion Week. She made her first trip to India during this time, having been invited by an Asian friend.
Early life:
On July 16, 1983, Katrina Kaif was born in British Hong Kong with the surname Turquotte (sometimes spelled Turcotte), which was her mother's maiden name. Her father, Mohammed Kaif, is a British businessman of Kashmiri heritage, and her mother, Suzanne (also spelled Susanna), is an English lawyer and charity worker. Both Suzanne and Susanna have also gone by the name Susanna. She is one of seven children, and one of her sisters, Isabel, is also an actress and model. When Kaif was a young girl, her parents separated, and her father eventually settled down in the United States. She said that she and her siblings were reared by their mother and that their father had no influence on them while they were growing up and that they were raised by their mother. She stated in an interview with The Indian Express that she did not have any contact with her father in the year 2009.
The identity of Kaif's father has been called into question by a few people working in the film industry. Ayesha Shroff, the producer of Boom, stated the following about Kaif in an interview with Mumbai Mirror in 2011: "We developed an identity for her. She was a cute young English girl, and we decided to give her a Kashmiri father and consider naming her Katrina Kazi. Her father was from Kashmir. Because we wanted to make a connection with the audience, we decided to give her some sort of Indian ancestry... But then we thought that Kazi sounded too... religious?... Mohammed Kaif was at the top, and so we said, "Katrina Kaif sounds really great." Kaif refuted this claim, describing the statements made by Shroff as "hurtful."
Within the cramped space, there is a woman that can be seen seated close to an elderly woman. The older woman is seated on the left and is wearing a black dress, while the younger woman is sitting on the right and is wearing a white dress.
At the People's Choice Awards in India in 2012, Kaif was there with her mother.
The Kaif family has lived in several different countries for differing amounts of time due to the fact that Kaif's mother is a social activist. As a result, Kaif and her siblings received their education at home from several different instructors. In her words:
The places where we moved while I was growing up were as follows: from Hong Kong, where I was born, to China; then, to Japan; and last, via boat, from Japan to France... After that, we went to Poland in Kraków, then France and Switzerland (I'm leaving out a lot of East European nations because we were only there for a few months in each of them). Following that, we traveled to Belgium, then spent some time in Hawaii, which was followed by our arrival in London.
Before moving to India, Kaif spent three years establishing herself in London. After taking first place in a beauty pageant held in Hawaii when she was just 14 years old, Kaif got her first modeling job for a jewelry ad campaign. After that, she began her career as a professional model in London, where she worked for freelance modeling agencies and had several appearances at London Fashion Week. During this time, she went to India for the very first time after an Asian friend of hers proposed that they take a trip to that country.
Personal Life:
The absence of a father figure in Kaif's childhood has imbued her with a strong feeling of duty toward the members of her own family, with whom she maintains a strong relationship. Even though Kaif's mother is a Christian and her father is a Muslim, Kaif claims that she was given the freedom to practice any religion she chose and that she is a "firm believer in God." In 2009, the Times of India published an article that stated she goes to the Siddhivinayak Temple, Mount Mary Church, and the Sufi shrine Ajmer Sharif Dargah before the release of her films.
Kaif is hesitant to share her private life, which has been the focus of interest from the media in India. "I have never wavered from the conviction that there is life both before and after one is married. You are referred to be a single woman before you get married, and at that time of my life, I made the conscious decision to handle myself with the utmost respect and discretion.
Even while rumors of Kaif being in a relationship with the actor Salman Khan began to circulate in 2003, it wasn't until years after the couple had broken up that Kaif opened up about the connection, referring to it as her first serious romantic partnership. They have maintained their friendship, and she attributes her self-assurance and sense of direction to Khan's influence. During the time that Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani was being filmed, there were rumors that Kaif was dating actor Ranbir Kapoor. In August of 2013, images that were released by Stardust and which showed Kapoor and Kaif on vacation were regarded as confirmation of a romantic relationship between the two actors. Following the dissemination of the photographs, Kaif wrote an open letter in which she expressed her displeasure at feeling "upset, distressed, and invaded" as a result of the invasion of her privacy. They split up in the year 2016. The wedding took place on December 9, 2021, at the Six Senses Resort, Fort Barwara in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. Kaif wed actor Vicky Kaushal. Their wedding received a significant amount of coverage in the media in India.
